PechaKucha London - Volume 14
Thursday, September 19, 2024
PechaKucha is a presentation format that originated in Tokyo, Japan, in 2003, created by architects Astrid Klein and Mark Dytham. It's designed to keep presentations concise and fast-paced. The name comes from a Japanese term that mimics the sound of conversation or chit-chat.
In a PechaKucha presentation, the presenter shows 20 slides, each for exactly 20 seconds. The slides advance automatically, giving the speaker a total of 6 minutes and 40 seconds to talk. This format encourages presenters to get straight to the point and keeps the audience engaged.
PechaKucha nights are informal and fun gatherings where people share their ideas and passions in this quick-fire format.

Ashley Rowe
Life at Different Heights
Dropping out of college, job loss and failure would reveal how much she has grown from it. Instead of focusing on age, Ashley’s PechaKucha Talk will focus on the literal height she was at that time.
Cedric Richards
The Biggest Number Ever is 157
Cedric will explore how he embarked on a bike ride in the final week of July 2021 as part of his vacation. On the second day of the trip, he biked 157 km from Wingham in northern Huron County to Hepworth, in the town of South Bruce Peninsula.
Kevin Bulmer
Learning to Love Inner My Anti-Hero
Kevin has learned to love, embrace, and embody his true self, without needing to be anyone's hero. Identifying with the concept of an anti-hero—a central character who lacks traditional heroic traits—Kevin embraces his identity as the "No Schedule Man." The signs were always there, and now he's ready to share his journey with us.
Louis Engel

Presence - How to Radiate Warmth, Charisma and Confidence
Some people captivate you when they walk into a room. You know the ones. They have a way of making you feel important, heard and draw your attention. They have you noticing, and when they speak, they have you listening. Their magic lies, not so much in what they say or do - but how they make you feel. We all have the power to harness this - to show up with presence and radiate warmth, charisma and confidence.

We respectfully acknowledge that "The PechaKucha London Event" will take place on the traditional lands of the Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee, Lūnaapéewak, and Attawandaron peoples.
We recognize and honour the enduring presence of Indigenous peoples on this land, and we are grateful to have the opportunity to gather and learn on these territories.

Hey, I'm Janic (Zsa-Nick) ...
Organizer and host of PechaKucha Nights, London, Ontario.
My PechaKucha experience began after an amazing experience delivering my first PechaKucha presentation at a Royal Roads University Leadership conference, which marked the completion of my MA in Leadership.
Captivated by the unique and dynamic format, and upon discovering that London, ON lacked its own PechaKucha night (now there are over 1300 cities around the world hosting these events), I reached out to the organizers in Tokyo. With their support, I took on the role of local host and organizer.
From 2017 to 2020, I proudly hosted 13 in-person events, adapting to the challenges of the pandemic with an online event to keep our community connected.
Now, as we prepare for Volume 14, our first in-person gathering since February 2020, I am thrilled to celebrate the creativity and passions of our amazing speakers.
